Dealu Mare Wine Country — Cabin Retreat Near Bucharest
Romania has been making wine in Dealu Mare for centuries. The hills run through Prahova and Buzău counties, vineyards climbing from the plains up to 500 metres. One of the country's oldest growing regions, and one of its least known outside of it.
Malu Roșu is at the top of those hills. Arta Chalet is there — five cabins in the forest, one hour from Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport.
The property
Five cabins in a clearing in the trees. Azaleya and Cataleya are A-Frame structures across three levels — a signature architectural form that uses the full height of the building. Ground floor: kitchen, living area, bedroom with bathroom. First floor: second bedroom, separate bathroom. Second floor: a loft with windows on both sides. Up to 6 guests each.
Terra faces the forest. Aria looks over the valley. Apollo sits at the highest point of the property with the widest views. All five are private and self-managed: gate and cabin codes sent via WhatsApp before arrival.
Mikaffa
A specialty coffee roastery on the same property — a separate project, same owner. Green coffee sourced and roasted on-site in the Prahova hills. Open at the café Thursday to Sunday from 10:00.
The ciubăr
A traditional Romanian wooden hot tub, hidden in the forest below the cabins. Heated over five to six hours. Reserved exclusively for your group. 350 RON per day — book it alongside your cabin.
Dealu Mare wine region
The region produces Fetească Neagră, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Burgund Mare among others. Several wineries offer tastings and cellar tours. Arta Chalet doesn't arrange visits directly — but the roads between properties are short, and most cellars welcome visitors with notice.
